Are You Ready for Some Hockey?

Almost without exception, Americans have a passion for organized sports. Up until a decade ago, baseball, football, hockey and basketball were distinguished as the four main sports, but that has changed in recent years. Football has overtaken baseball as the predominant sport in America, and hockey has somewhat fallen off the map, so to speak.
The indifference to hockey among the American people baffles meâthe sport meshes the physical nature of football and the fast-paced action of hockey, which should be a winning combination. There are several theories of why the sport has failed to take traction in the states; perhaps it is because we donât lace our kids up in hockey skates at an early age. In my opinion, part of the reason for hockey playing second fiddle to other professional sports is the lack of coverage on ESPN and other sports networks.
